I Love a Library

It’s true.  I do.  I love a library.

My mom brought me to the library when I was little.  I loved it.  It opened up the world to me.  I could learn about anything I wanted to learn about.

I could follow Harold and his purple crayon to the worlds he imagined.

I could daydream about the oranges Laura Ingalls found in her Christmas stocking.

I could imagine the upside-down world of Mrs. Pigglewiggle.

Yes, I love everything about a library.

So it’s no surprise that I brought Bub, at the age of 1.5, to get his very own library card.

There was a hippo-shaped bookshelf at the library.  It was very low to the ground, meant for littlest of the littles.  Bub seemed to know it was meant for him.  He went over to it and immediately started choosing books.

When we got home, he was absorbed by his new books.

Libraries.  I couldn’t love ’em more.

Harold was the best. I smile when I think of using paint-stir paddles to mark where we pulled out books in the Everybody Section of Dassel Elementary’s library. Bub’s not too far off from that. :)

  • Hi Punkyseed, I love your blog! Your son is so cute, I love his blonde hair. So this is actually Nin from PeachyHollow- I changed my blog as too many real-life friends/family were reading it so I felt a bit stifled. Anyway, I post over at virginiapeachblog.com now. Thanks so much for leaving me a comment over at PH :)
    See you soon!
    xx

I LOVE the library too. I’ve finally figured out that I am unusual in how much I used the library compared to most ‘grown-ups’ I know. I went the other day over lunch and my coworkers said, “Oh, are you going to get tax forms?” That was the only reason he could see for going to the library! I borrow movies, cookbooks, Maisie Dobbs books, Alexander McCall Smith books, and more all of the time.
