Hi, I’m Jo. I’m the thirtysomething wife to Mr. Punky, and mom to a little boy we call Bub. Mr. Punky likes to tell me that I’m spunky. I can’t imagine what he’s talking about.
The first time I went to college, I was an English major. I even graduated summa cum laude. I had a bright, shiny degree…and not a plan in the world for what I was going to do with it.
So, I worked for a loan officer (he was great), and then a USDA county manager (he was NOT). I began to feel that I wasn’t helping anyone. I didn’t believe in what I was doing.
I hated it.
I needed to feel like I was helping others. After much soul searching, I returned to school for pharmacy.
Now I’m living the dream, helping people by getting them the right medications.
I began blogging in May 2007 as The Prairie Bride. In March of 2009, I began blogging as Punkyseed.
The name Punkyseed comes from my dad. It’s a term of endearment that he used for his younger sister. And later, that he used for me. And my siblings. It’s used when you’re talking sweetly to a child, as in, “You’re just a little punkyseed, aren’t you?” It’s a phrase I now use on my little Bub.
I love to be creative, and I love to read. I’m not half bad at baking. I listen to public radio. I’m never bored, since there are always things I want to learn, read, watch, or do.
